Ask Aria

A general legal AI assistant, built into your filing workflow.

Ask Aria anything you would ask a capable colleague: summarize a transcript, outline an argument, draft a client email, explain a local rule. Answers can draw on your firm's Library documents, a court's stored filing rules and the web, and every answer can go straight to the Library or to Citation Check.

How it works

Ask, ground it, keep it.

  1. Start a thread in a matterThreads are saved and organized by matter, so the research for one case stays together and you can pick it up later.
  2. Attach files and choose sourcesAttach PDFs, Word files, text or images. Add Library documents, a court’s rules, web search or deep analysis with one click.
  3. Aria answers, showing its sourcesAnswers stream in with links to any web pages used. Rules-grounded answers name the stored rule they rely on.
  4. Keep what is usefulCopy the answer, save it to the Document Library, or send it to Citation Check to verify every case before you rely on it.

Key capabilities

Options that connect the answer to your filing work.

Library documents

Pick up to 10 documents from your firm's Library for Aria to read with your question: briefs, orders, contracts, prior filings.

Court rules

Ground the answer in a court’s stored filing rules, from a catalog of 243 federal and state courts. Federal court rules sites are checked for changes every week.

Web search

Switch on web search for current information. Answers list the pages they used as links you can open and check.

Deep analysis

For harder questions, Aria takes more time and reasons more carefully before answering.

Writing style

Choose a preset (formal memo, client-friendly plain English, concise bullet points) or one of your firm’s style models, past filings that show your house style.

Model picker

Leave it on Auto or choose a model for the thread: Auto, Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Claude Haiku 5.5.

File attachments

Attach PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF, email, text and Markdown files and images to a message, up to 10 at a time.

History

Search past threads, star the ones you return to, filter by matter, rename and move threads between matters.

Save or check every answer

One click saves an answer to the Document Library or opens it in Citation Check, which confirms that cited cases exist using CourtListener.

Organized by matter

Your research, where your case is.

Aria sits next to the rest of DraftAria: the court-formatted templates and filing checks, Agents for repeatable multi-step tasks and Review Tables for many documents at once. Ask the question, then produce and check the filing in the same workspace.

Trust and safety

A draft for you to review, not legal advice.

  • Web search is off unless you switch it on for a thread; sources are shown so you can open them.
  • AI output is a draft for attorney review. Aria's answers are labelled "Drafted by Aria · review before relying on it".
  • Aria is instructed never to invent citations, quotations or facts, and to flag what it can't verify. Run Citation Check before you rely on any authority.

Your firm's documents stay in your firm's workspace, separated from other firms at the database level. The text needed for a request is sent to the AI model provider to produce the answer.

Read exactly what is sent, what is kept and for how long in Security & data handling and the Trust Center, including the subprocessor list.
